CS2 update adds Casual mode, two new maps, changes to movement, and grenade inspecting

The updates just keep getting better!

The updates are starting to pick up steam as Valve has released yet another update for theCounter-Strike 2 limited test.

In a CS2update that shipped today, the developers have swapped outMiragefor not one, but two new maps in addition to adding Casual play. This update had plenty more though, including some changes to movement and audio as well as the addition of grenade inspecting.

CS2 update adds Nuke and Office, two old-school maps

Thus far in the game’s limited test cycle, we’ve managed to play both Dust 2 and Mirage, but only ever one at a time. Finally, fans can play either Nuke or Office, and there’s actually some overlap.

Nuke is available to play in all three current modes; matchmaking, casual, and competitive. The map Office is playable in only deathmatch or casual.

This gives just a little more when it comes to options, and also seems to show that the developers are picking up steam in terms of what they’re ready to release.

Another fun bit from the update is the ability to inspect grenades for the first time. This could mean that skins for the throwables are now in the works. Just another bit to customize for the cosmetic-loving folks out there!

Those who just haven’t felt the game’s movement was similar enough to CS:GO will be happy to know much of that has been adjusted as well according to thepatch notes. In particular, “Bunny hopping feel should now closely match CS:GO running at 128 tick,” according to the developers.

When it comes to audio there were a plethora of adjustments, improvements, and fixes. With how important audio is in a game such as Counter-Strike, this is always a welcome thing to see.
