Double parts ways with UYU
The Japanese Tekken player is flying solo for 2020.
Japanese Tekken 7 player, Shoji “Double” Takakubo, has officially left esports org UYU. The Marshall Law specialist joined UYU in early 2019, playing in mostly Asian events of the 2019 Tekken World Tour.
At this time, May 31st, I have seceded from UYU. Being a part of this team has taught me so many things, and I can never thank them more for the tremendous support that they have given me.Thank you so much for supporting me.
UYU CEO Jinhee Ahn Kim shared some kind words about the departing player, talking about his joyous presence to the team. The two along with the rest of the UYU squad came out to participate and support the Tekken 2019 World Tour Finals in Thailand.

During his time with UYU, Double almost tripled his tournament appearances from 2018. The Japanese player soon became a known top finisher, getting into the top 16 in all his eleven tournament appearances. Double also became a bonafide champion during the Taipei Major 2019, where he defeated fellow Japanese player Yuta “Chikurin” Take.
Despite only joining the Tekken 7 competitive scene in 2018, Double destroyed Tekken God Bae “Knee” Jaemin on his own turf at the OSL Futures: Phase 1.
The Marshall Law player also flexed his skill at the ONE Tekken Tokyo Invitational, schooling Hoa “Anakin” Luu with a double perfect round.
With Bandai Namco pulling its support for the 2020 Tekken World Tour, we’ll likely see the Marshall Law master go unsigned for the year and focus on streaming and other Tekken 7 content.
