Fnatic and TNC organize show match to help fight COVID-19

The best-of-five will be played in Reverse Captain’s Mode.

Arguably Southeast Asia’s top two Dota teams, Fnatic and TNC Predator, have announced a show match to take place on April 18 that will double as a donation drive to help combat the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

Both teams will compete with their full lineups in a best-of-five match played in Reverse Captain’s Mode, where the captains of each team will draft the lineup they want their opponents to play.

The proceeds from the show match will be donated to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, an initiative started by the World Health Organization in response to the global viral outbreak.

“FNATIC and TNC, alongside all the other SEA teams, are actually close friends and we have always been supportive of each other in every situation […] The back-end staff from FNATIC and TNC have been hard at work the past few weeks to put on this spectacle, so that you will be entertained in this difficult period. At the same time, we would also like to contribute whatever we can to fight COVID-19,” FNATIC Dota 2 team director Eric Khor and TNC team manager Arjay Domdom said in a jointstatement.

The coronavirus pandemic has virtually ground the 2019-2020 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) to a halt, withthe DOTA PIT Minor and EPICENTER Major in May being canceledshortly after the Los Angeles Major was postponed.

There is only one Major event, theONE Esports Singapore Major, remaining in the season before The International 2020 is set to begin in August. With that said, the status of the season’s last Major remains up in the air as coronavirus outbreaks around the world continue to worsen.

In response to the indefinite suspension of the DPC, the scene has turned to online tournaments, such as theESL One Los Angeles 2020 Online Regional Leaguesand theWePlay! Pushka League, to continue competitions amid the crisis.
