Fortnite made US$1.8 billion in revenue in 2019

Fortnite earned 25% less revenue in 2019 compared to 2018, but it still sits at the head of the table.

Fortnite: Battle Royaleremains one of the most popular games in the world, as the preeminent battle royale game earned a whopping US$1.8 billion in revenue in 2019.

Fortnite’s earnings made it the top-grossing online video game last year, according to the latest report by Nielsen’s gaming market research unit, SuperData. The game notably beat out the likes of Candy Crush, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, FIFA 19, and Pokémon Go from the top spot.

That also makes it two straight years that Fortnite has topped SuperData’s list, as the game was also the highest-earning free-to-play game in 2018. However, Fortnite’s 2019 revenue is down 25% from its previous record of US$2.4 billion in 2018.
