For the second time at theLeague of LegendsMid-Season Invitational group stage,G2 EsportsconqueredSK Telecom T1in a memorable rematch that featuredG2 Martin “Wunder” Hansen’s Pyke carrying the whole team.
Wunder finished with a K/D/A of 11/4/7 on the top lane and the victory put the European team 2-0 over Korean team SKT during the third day of theMSI.

Wunder’s wonderful Pyke play showed how the champion could be overpowered not just on the bottom lane as support and on camps as a jungler, but on the top lane as well. ShoutcasterIndiana “Froskurrin” Blackexplained how Pyke’s sustainability was able to break through SKT’s early defense.
“Against a Korean team, who is known for their control, who is known for their vision — it’s just so exhausting because of how long Pyke can stay in these fights, how long Pyke can stay on a map, and how many times he can continuously pressure things, and when he doesn’t have to reset like a natural champion,” said Froskurrin.
To supplement Wunder’s Pyke pick,G2 Marcin “Jankos” Jankowskilocked in Jarvan IV,G2 Rasmus “Caps” Wintherchose LeBlanc on mid,G2 Luka “Perkz” Perkovicwent for Varus, andG2 Mihael “Mikyx” Mehleopted to go for Tahm Kench.
The start of the game did not look very promising for G2, as SKT Kim “Khan” Dong-ha’s Jayce took the first blood by killing G2 Wunder’s Pyke with the help of a gank from SKT Kim “Clid” Tae-min’s Elise, though G2 got a return kill on Clid.

There were also some misplays by G2 Jankos’ Jarvan IV during the game, which put G2 in a bad position during the first few minutes of the match. However, SKT members repeatedly got picked off one-by-one, letting G2 turn the game around and clinch the victory.

G2 now has a 4-2 standing at MSI, placing second behind the undefeated Chinese team Invictus Gaming (IG).
