Can Whitemon help the team perform better for the upcoming ESL One Los Angeles Major?
Southeast Asian team Geek Fam has announced their newest member: Matthew “Whitemon” Filemon. The news broke a day after thedeparture of their former captain, Kim “DuBu” Doo-young.

Whitemon is an Indonesian professional Dota 2 player who began his career in 2018 with SEA organization EVOS Esports as their position 5 player. He previously competed in minor league tournaments in the region with one appearance at ESL One Hamburg 2018, where his team finished 11th-12th place. Whitemon left EVOS Esports in September of last year but remained as an active player.
Whitemon will be joining his fellow countryman, Kenny “Xepher” Deo, along with Geek Fam’s three Filipino core players Marc “Raven” Fausto, Karl “Karl” Jayme, and Carlo “Kuku” Palad.
Geek Fam had a decent third-place finish during the WePlay! Bukovel Minor, but the team is still constantly looking to improve. Time will tell if their choice of swapping out an experienced veteran for an up-and-coming talent will bring them closer to their goals.
