Gen.G removes Player1 from its active roster
Player1 has been with Gen.G since Valorant’s closed beta
In a surprising shift by Gen.G Esports, the organization has decided to part ways with Keven “Player1” Champagne.
Gen.G decided to move me to the inactive roster. I enjoyed all of my time with them and my teammates and I wish them good luck in the future❤️.With that being said, I am allowed to seek offers or other opportunities. DM’s are open.RTs appreciated
The news was revealed by Player1 himself in a tweet that also mentioned he is already seeking offers and other opportunities outside of Gen.G. Player1 was one of the original members on Gen.G’s roster, and is a Cypher main player who plays the info and lurk role for the team.
Gen.G’s decision was surprising, because its Valorant roster has done relatively well in 2020. During Valorant’s closed beta period, Gen.G decided to acquire the FRENCH CANADIAN squad, which would then win the biggest closed beta North American tournament, the T1 x Nerd Street Gamers Invitational. The team also won the Pulse Invitational, and the Pittsburgh Knights Before Christmas event that concluded a week ago.

This also isn’t Gen.G’s first roster change for this year. In early November, they swapped out Loic “effys” Sauvageaufor a new duelist main in Shawn “Shawn” O’Riley, right before the start of the First Strike NA qualifiers.
However, after the team failed to qualify for First Strike NA, Gen.G clearly studied its current roster and decided to make a change. With all professional Valorant teams looking forward to the Champions Tour set to begin in January next year, Gen.G is looking to give the team enough firepower to go up against the top teams in North America.
