How Knee wins using only two moves with new Tekken 8 Heat System
Back to basics.
During the Tekken 8 Closed Network Test, legendary pro playerBae “Knee” Jae-Mindemonstrated the power of Paul’s 50-50 mix up, as well as Leroy’s overpowered advantage with the new Heat System.
In a recent tweet, the EVO champion posted a video of him beating an opponent online by spamming Paul and Leroy’s move set. The pro player also stated that combos were not needed in this case.
Knee uses Heat System for Paul’s 50-50
In the first part of the video, the Korean legend showed how he won an entire match using only Paul’s Demo Man (d+4,2:1+2) and Phoenix Smasher (qcf+2), and only doing combos when the opportunity presents itself.
to setup the 50-50 mix up, he makes use of the Heat System to get the offensive advantage he needs. He used Stone Lion (f+4) and Phoenix Hook, Tiger Claw (f+2), the new additions to Paul’s arsenal, as his Heat Engagers, ending the match with two Perfect rounds.
Knee takes advantage of Heat System chip damage with Leroy
One of the features of the Heat System is giving its user the ability to inflict damage on a guarding opponent, although recoverable, the lost health can only be regained if the opponent takes the offensive position.
Also, the Heat Timer extends as the user continuously attacks, making it favorable for poke-heavy characters such as Leroy.
This is exactly what the ROX Dragon Tekken pro did when he activated Heat with the Grandmaster of Drip. By spamming Chain Punch (1+2,1+2) the Tekken legend was able to dish out half a life bar worth of damage on his opponent, and at the same time, extending the duration of his Heat State to almost 30 seconds.
