FunPlus Phoenix win Worlds 2019

China’sFunPlus Phoenixare officially the best LoL team in the world.

The team had an incredible year, finishing first in both the LPL Spring and Summer standings, and winning the LPL Summer championship.

They followed it up with one of the most dominant runs at Worlds we’ve ever seen, topping Group B, and then taking out Fnatic 3-1 in the quarterfinals, and eliminating reigning champions, Invictus Gaming, 3-1 in the semifinals.

They finished it off with one of the most one-sided finals ever, absolutely stomping G2 Esports 3-0 to win their first LoL World Championship.

Invictus Gaming win Dota Summit 11

China’sInvictus Gamingwon the first Minor of the DPC 2019-2020 season, sweeping Chaos Esports Club, 3-0, in the grand finals of the Dota Summit 11 Minor.

The mixed Chinese and Malaysian squad was dominant throughout the tournament, going 11-2 overall, which included a 2-0 thrashing of Chaos Esports Club in the Winners Bracket finals.

For their victory, IG took home US$72,000, 140 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) points, and the last qualifying spot at the MDL Chengdu Major.

Red Bull Esports signs Evo champ, Arslan Ash

Red Bull Esportshas signed Evo Japan 2019 and Evo 2019 Tekken champion, Arslan “Arslan Ash” Siddique.

Arslan joins Hoa “Anakin” Luu and Kana “Tanukana” Tani as Red Bull’s top Tekken 7 players.

The signing should let Arslan compete more frequently overseas, with Red Bull providing financial and logistical support for Arslan’s future tournament runs.

Square Enix releases a 13-minute live-action trailer for the Final Fantasy VII remake

Square Enix has released a 13-minute long live-action trailer for the highly-anticipated Final Fantasy VII remake, which will be released next year.

The trailer follows a young couple with an estranged relation to the original game, and is peppered with in-game references that hits hard on the nostalgia factor.
