Chip-maker Intel is in talks with the IOC about the future of esports in the Olympics, according to a report bySports Pro Media. Intel UK’s gaming and esports lead Scott Gillingham confirmed that negotiations were happening.

However, no conclusions have yet been made, as the Olympics committee is still having doubts due to the violent natures of some titles.

A smaller-scale medal event similar to the Olympics would be the upcoming 2019 Southeast Asian Games, where some esports games have been recognized and included, and features games such as Dota 2, Starcraft II, Tekken 7, Mobile Legends, and Arena of Valor.
