International Olympic Committee announces Intel World Open 2020 featuring Street Fighter V

Esports is getting a start in the Olympics.

Olympics and esports fans, get ready to give your best “Hadouken!” chant at the Intel World Open 2020.

Fighting gameStreet Fighterand vehicular soccer titleRocket Leaguewere the games revealed to be included in the competition. A prize pool of US$500,000 will be given away to the winners of the Open.

The Intel World Open finals will be held in Zepp DiverCity in Tokyo from July 22-24, 2020, followed immediately by the Olympics on July 24.

Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono even posted a tweet about his excitement for Street Fighter’s involvement in the event.
