MAD Lions enter Valorant with former TENSTAR roster

A new home for a promising roster.

MAD Lions Valorant is finally official. The Spanish esports organization has acquired the former TENSTAR roster, confirming reports of the move last month.

MAD Lions is best known for its championship-winningLeague of Legends team, having won both the2021 LEC Springand Summer Split.

Its entry into yet another Riot Games title comes on the back of the newly-announced structure for VCT 2023, featuring three international leagues,partnered teams similar to League of Legends, and expanded domestic leagues.

The TENSTAR Valorant roster has been a mainstay in the European scene since last year. They most recently competed in the Valorant Regional League Northern Europe: Polaris, barely missing out on promotion to the main VCT after a hard-fought grand final loss to EXCEL.

The team signed former Fnatic player Domagoj “Doma” Fancev in January, after the Croatian player wasbenched by Fnaticin the aftermath ofValorant Champions 2021. The roster is also headlined by former CS:GO pro Alexandre “xms” Forté, who played alongsideAdil “ScreaM” Benrlitomon Team EnVyUs.

However, the organization found itself on shaky footing in recent weeks, with the resignation of founder and CEO Carl Roderick in early March. Two more directors had also departed in September 2021.

Peter “Spin” Bradford will serve as the team’s coach, while Morgan “BigTime” Jay joins as analyst.

The squad willdebut under the MAD Lions bannerin Stage 2 of VRL France: Révolution, which kicks off on May 9.
