MSI Play-in Stage schedule changed due to a state funeral in Vietnam
The country’s former president Le Duc Anh has passed and the country has announced two days of official mourning.
The passing of Vietnam’sformer president Le Duc Anhwill see the schedule for the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) being tweaked.
Besides a state funeral taking place, two days of official mourning will also be held on May 3-4 for the former president, who passed away on April 22. No public entertainment events will be held during the two-day mourning period and state funeral, which prompted the changes in schedule.
The six matches originally scheduled on May 3 and 4will instead be split between May 1 and 5— both days will have eight matches instead of six — to make way for the two-day mourning and state funeral.
The adjusted schedule for the MSI Play-in Knockout Stage, originally scheduled for May 6 to 7, has not yet been revealed.
Riot Games has yet to release an official statement on the MSI’s change of schedule at the time of writing.
The MSI is an annual tournament where the champions from LoL’s different regional leagues battle for supremacy and a spot at the LoL World Championships. This year, eight regional representatives will clash in Vietnam to see who will advance into the main event taking place in Taipei on May 10 to 19.
