Geguriwas listed as one of Time’s Next Generation Leaders for 2019, alongside YouTuber CarryMinati (Ajey Nagar), Spanish singer Rosalia, and Brazilian journalist David Miranda.

In the list, theOverwatchLeague (OWL) player was described as “the female gamer taking the male-dominated world of esports by storm”. She is currently the only professional female player out of 193registered players in the Overwatch League.

Time’s piece on Gegurihighlighted her difficultyin entering the esports scene, mostly centering aroundcheating accusationssuch as using an aimbot during matches and highlighted her resiliency in handling them.

“I was able to get through this whole fiasco with the help and support of my teammates at the time,” saidGegurito Time.

Before becoming a part of the Overwatch League, Geguri was known as a skilled Zarya player back in her native South Korea. In February 2018, she made the headlines as the first female player to join the OWL.
