Riot might be planning a League of Legends World Cup
Just imagine how powerful China and Korea would be.
Riot has revealed its plans to organize a World Cup tournament for League of Legends with players representing their home country, similar to how Blizzard’s annualOverwatch World Cupworks.
“It’s a when and not an if there will be a League of Legends World Cup,” said ESPN writer Tyler “FionnOnFire” Erzberger citing higher-ups at Riot.
However, don’t expect the League of Legends World Cup to happen anytime soon. It could take years to happen, as Riot Games wants “to make it something worth playing in.”
From Riot higher-ups:It’s a when and not an if there will be a League of Legends World Cup. They want to do it and do it right, but it’ll take time (possibly years) for them to do it. They know the players have a full schedule and want to make it something worth playing in.pic.twitter.com/4lJ01c8pkD
