Sentinels to play without SicK for the rest of VCT NA Stage 2 Challengers

Sentinels’ Valorant roster woes show no sign of letting up. The organization announced today that Hunter “SicK” Mims would be taking an extended leave of absence to attend to an undisclosed family matter.

SicK missed their match againstMasters Reykjavik 2022championsOpTic Gamingin Week 3 of the VCT NA Stage 2 Challengers group stage, where they lost 2-0. The team had to play with two substitutes, afterTyson “TenZ” Ngoalso sat out the gamebecause of a COVID-19 infection.

The North American squad announced that head coach Shane “Rawkus” Flaherty will stand in for SicK for the remainder ofVCT NA Stage 2 Challengers.

The former kings of North America have been down on their luck in recent weeks. TenZ and his squad have yet to win a match in the VCT NA Stage 2 Challengers group stage, with losses to Luminosity Gaming, Evil Geniuses, and OpTic Gaming.

With a 0-3 record, they are also at risk of missing the playoffs.

Sentinels SicK out of VCT NA Stage 2 Challengers

In order to advance, they must win their remaining two matches against FaZe Clan and Cloud9. On top of that, theMasters Reykjavik 2021champions are banking oncertain scenarios to come to fruition.

The best-case scenario would also see Evil Geniuses and Luminosity win their games against FaZe and Cloud9. That would allow Sentinels to overtake the latter two teams with a 2-3 match record, compared to their 1-4 records.

Any tiebreaker involving more than three teams will be settled based on their map win percentage during the group stage, round win percentage, and team seeding prior to the group stage.

The fourth and fifth-placed teams will then play a best-of-three tiebreaker match, with the winner claiming fourth place.

TenZ will make his return with the boys in red to play FaZe on June 5, followed by Cloud9 on June 13.
