Tfue’s last Fortnite tournament will be this year’s World Cup
He’s probably not qualifying and has some health issues with his neck.
One of the best Fortnite players in the world, Turner “Tfue” Tenney has decided that he will stop participating in Fortnite tournaments.
The news came as a surprise to viewers on his stream, given Tfue’s success in the nascent Fortnite esports scene. He’s won US$492,000 so far, and is the second-highest Fortnite earner, but that’s expected to change if other players start winning tournamentsgiven the massive prize pool that Epic is pumping into esports.
The streamersaid on Twitchthat he’s quitting because he’s like not to qualify and he doesn’t “need the money anyway.”
Another reason Tfue could be quitting may be due to health issues with his neck. The streamer had mentionedduring a livestreamthat even the doctor “didn’t know what is” wrong with his neck.
Competitive players have also been unhappy with Fortnite’sconstant meta changes, and this could have also played a role in Tfue’s decision to stop participating in tournaments.
Tfue had failed to place in week one of the Fortnite World Cup Online Open, only managing a 137th spot. With 9 more weeks to go, it’ll be interesting to see how he performs and if he does eventually qualify for theFortnite World Cup.
Week two of the Fortnite World Cup Online Openwill take place on April 20-21and will be a duos tournament.
