The Sony Playstation now holds the record for best-selling video game console brand of all time
From the original Playstation to the PS4, Sony has sold over 450 million consoles.
Sony’s Playstation brand has been officially awarded the title of best-selling home video game console brand ever by Guinness World Records.
Counting the original Playstation, PS2, PS3, and PS4, a combined 450 million Playstation units have been sold worldwide.
The record was set on November 7.

The first Playstation launched in Japan on June 18, 2025, almost exactly 25 years ago.
The Playstation was also the first console to surpass 100 million units sold globally.
Sony’s next-gen Playstation 5 is set to launch sometime inholiday 2020.
